Nelson Peña graduated from the Cuban National Ballet School in 2009. In 2012, he was a soloist with the Josburg Ballet, in 2013–2022 he was a principal dancer with the National Opera and Ballet Theatre of Kazakhstan, while also being a guest principal dancer with the Russian National Ballet Theatre (2016–2018), Astana Ballet in Kazakhstan (2019) as well as the Saint Petersburg Classical Ballet (2021–2022). In 2022, he joined the Estonian National Ballet. (
